Where Land Meets Sea - from a position low in the water icy ripples wend their way shoreward slapping the cobble boundary as they end their journey. Rigid reeds stand frozen, their roots firmly planted in the silt. But heat comes forward across the land with something else to say, a challenger for the inhospitable sea. The relationship between colours is a theme I keep returning to. The essence of this story comes from a series of layers - translucent pigments layered with increasing opaque emulsion. Simple mark making gives a sense of detail and raw texture to the piece.
